De'Vondre Campbell caused a stir in the locker room moments before refusing to enter the 49ers game

The San Francisco 49ers have experienced a lot of fallout since their loss to the Los Angeles Rams last Thursday night.

For starters, the San Francisco 49ers fell to a dismal 6-8 and may just be out of playoff contention. What really grabbed the media's eye, though, was De'Vondre Campbell's untimely exit from the game and eventually the team.

It was announced today that the 49ers will suspend Campbell for three games. With a less than 1% chance of making the playoffs this year, they may as well just say that he's gone for the rest of the season.

The reason behind his suspension was his refusal to play in Thursday's game. Campbell was told to enter the game to replace Dre Greenlaw, who was making his return from the Achilles injury he sustained in last year's Super Bowl loss to the Kansas City Chiefs

Campbell told head coach Kyle Shanahan that he would not play and then walked off the field to the locker room.

On Friday, Shanahan spoke on the matter. "His actions from the game, it's not something you can do to your team or your teammates and still expect to be a part of our team," Shanahan said.

On Monday, the 49ers' general manager, John Lynch, released a statement about the matter.

"We have suspended De'Vondre Campbell for three games due to conduct detrimental to the team," the statement read. "We will have no further comment on the matter."

Reports have since come out that Campbell and Lynch had a confrontation at Levi Stadium Thursday night.

As the days go on, more and more members of the 49ers roster continue to make it sound like their happy Campbell is gone for the rest of the season and will most likely be eventually shipped off somewhere else.

Nick Bosa spoke with reporters this afternoon about the incident.

"I heard some complaining," the 49ers edge rusher said about a supposed incident that happened prior to the game. "I was going to say something, but didn't, because I didn't want to create more of a distraction. So yeah, I kind of saw the foreshadowing."

Cornerback Deommodore Lenoir says that he "lost all respect" for Campbell when he walked out on his team Thursday night.

"I'm a person that's going 110% every play," Lenoir told reporters. "If I am hurt and the guy behind me is not backing me up and can't come in or don't want to go in, I just feel like he's a cancer to the team."

Through all of this, there has been no word on Campbell's side of the story or what caused him to leave his team, and no word on whether the 49ers plan to move on from him this coming season.
