There's an opportunity to trade for Amari Cooper if Jerry Jones can swallow his pride. Cowboys fans aren't holding their breath in that regard, but Jones could potentially swing big on another high-profile receiver.
The Cowboys are reportedly among the "many teams" that have checked in on Davante Adams' tenuous situation with the Las Vegas Raiders, per The Athletic's Dianna Russini. This comes after Adams "informed" the Raiders he would prefer to be traded.
Aaron Rodgers' Jets are unsurprisingly one of the teams interested in Adams. They figure to be one of, if not the most aggressive team that pursues Adams. The Cowboys' rumored interest sets the stage for an overdue revenge against Rodgers.

Not only do numerous betting sits have the Jets as the odds-on favorite to acquire Adams, but NFL insider James Palmer called New York the clear "frontrunner" in the Adams sweepstakes. That's no surprise given that Adams and Rodgers played together in Green Bay for eight years and formed one of the most formidable QB-WR duos of the last decade.
Jets GM Joe Douglas is feeling the heat amid a 2-2 start. He seemingly will do whatever it it takes to land Adams, but he'll have to fend off various teams.
It's not uncommon for the Cowboys to be linked with a star before the trade deadline. "Checking in" and "actively pursuing" are not the same thing and there is no evidence to suggest Dallas is personifying the latter. Fans should tread lightly in terms of getting their hopes up.
The Raiders are hopeful to get a second-round pick and additional compensation for Adams, per ESPN's Adam Schefter. That's a high bar for Dallas to clear.
Furthermore, Adams is owed $13.5 million for the rest of the year. Jerry Jones just proclaimed that the team couldn't afford Derrick Henry, but perhaps the front office would be willing to include Brandin Cooks, who is making $8 million this season, in a potential deal to offset some of Adams' salary.
The Cowboys need to bolster their backfield and run defense, but trading for a star wide receiver to spite another team (and player) is right up Jones' wheelhouse.
