Davante Adams Sends Clear Message About Packers Reunion

Davante Adams lines up for a play against the Tennessee Titans.

Davante Adams doesn't have lingering eyes for his former team.

After two seasons with the Las Vegas Raiders, the star wide receiver watched Josh Jacobs sign with the Green Bay Packers. Earlier this offseason, the running back said he texted Adams with an eyeball emoji and asked if he wanted to return to where he started his career.

During a Tuesday interview on Up & Adams, the six-time Pro Bowler confirmed that Jacobs sent him that text. Yet Adams shut down any likelihood of playing for Green Bay again.

"It was definitely a joke, but it was one of the jokes where he was serious because he would like that," Adams said. "But I told him, 'You go ahead and hold it down, and I'll hold it down over here.' I don't think I'll be coming back over there."

However, Adams added that you "never know what's going to happen." Trade speculation surfaced around the All-Pro following an 8-9 season that ended with Las Vegas benching longtime starting quarterback Derek Carr.

"If they ship me off, then there's not much I can do about it," Adams said. "But I'm a Raider, so nobody got to worry about that."

Jacobs isn't the only former teammate who's tried recruiting Adams. The wideout joked that Aaron Rodgers remains "in the ear" about a reunion, but he reiterated that he's focused on the Raiders.

Adams began his Raiders tenure by registering 1,516 receiving yards and 14 touchdowns in 2022, but he averaged his fewest yards per game (67.3) since 2017 last season. After securing at least 62 percent of his targets in each of his last six seasons with Green Bay, Adams has settled for a 57.2 percent catch rate in Las Vegas.

While Adams could experience more inconsistent quarterback play in 2024, Jordan Love is blossoming alongside a deep group of young Packers wideouts. Romeo Doubs, Christian Watson, and Jayden Reed give Green Bay a promising future without Adams.
