Davante Adams Reacts to the Firing of Raiders OC Luke Getsy

Raiders' Luke Getsy Compares Davante Adams to When He Coached Him in Green Bay

The Raiders fired offensive coordinator Luke Getsy on Sunday night and there’s no better time than the present to remember who it was that lobbied to get him to the team in the first place.

Flagship radio host ‘JT the Brick’ talked about Getsy’s departure this week and offered a reminder that it was Davante Adams who played a legitimate role in bringing Getsy to the Raiders.

“Luke Getsy was connected to Davante [Adams]. That’s how he got the job. They ran it by Davante, which was the right thing to do,” JT said this week on his Radio Nation Radio show. “Davante worked with Luke Getsy in Green Bay, Wisconsin. They had a really good relationship with Aaron Rodgers and LaFleur, and that’s one of the reasons he got the job.”

“And then Davante bailed, and then everybody got hurt. So Luke Getsy, is he the fall guy? Yeah, he’s the fall guy,” JT continued. “No one’s really doing anything great. So why was he fired now? I think he was fired for obvious reasons.”

On Tuesday, Adams appeared on the Up and Adams Show and he shared his reaction to the Raiders’ decision to fire his former offensive coordinator.

“I love Luke [Getsy] and I have a long history with him,” Adams said. “We came into Green Bay at the same time, and he was my receivers coach for a few years and one of my favorite coaches that I’ve had. It just so happens that… obviously, me leaving doesn’t help that situation, but I had to do what I had to do and that’s just kind of how this game goes.”

Adams got his first win as member of the Jets on Thursday and, for now, he seems to be happy in New York.

And just like he did a year ago, Adams is already clamoring for his interim head coach in New York to get the full-time job after the season.
