The New York Jets lost their 8th out of their last 9 games on Sunday, this time falling to the Miami Dolphins by a score of 32-26. The Jets entered the fourth quarter with the lead only to give up 11 points in the frame before giving up a game-ending touchdown drive in overtime.

With the loss to the Dolphins, the Jets’ record dropped to 3-10, officially eliminating the team from playoff contention. 2024 is now the 14th straight year that Gang Green has failed to qualify for the playoffs, which is the longest postseason drought in American professional sports.

It’s been so long since the Jets made the playoffs, in fact, that they haven’t been in the postseason since the release of the Nintendo 3DS video game console, which dropped in February 2011.

During the game, wide receivers Davante Adams and Garrett Wilson made an embarrassing mistake that epitomized Gang Green’s pitiful 2024 campaign as the pair of pass catchers crashed into each other like a duo of cartoon characters while running their routes.

The clip is even funnier when scored to a classic cartoony sound.

Despite the goofy nature of the clip, both Wilson and Adams played well and had perhaps their best games of the season, as Wilson had 7 catches for 114 yards while Adams grabbed 9 passes for 109 yards and a touchdown.

41-year-old quarterback Aaron Rodgers also perhaps had his best game as a Jet, as his stat line of 27-39 for 339 yards and a touchdown marked the first time he’s passed for more than 300 yards in a game since December 12, 2021.

“I’m glad he got over that hurdle. Cool,” a frustrated Wilson said after the loss, in which he pondered if the Jets having a “losing problem” that’s like a “gene.”
