Davante Adams’ Attitude Towards the Raiders Reportedly Changed in March

Last week, a beat writer covering the Raiders reported he was “tipped off” that Davante Adams was already becoming unsettled with the organization during his first season in Las Vegas.

Sports Illustrated insider Hondo Carpenter promised more details on that story during the bye week.

This week, one of Carpenter’s colleagues said the final straw for Adams might have come when the offseason splash at quarterback in Las Vegas ended up being Gardner Minshew.

Via Sports Illustrated insider Albert Breer…

“An interesting leftover on the Davante Adams saga: Those in Las Vegas thought his attitude toward the team changed back in March, when the team signed Gardner Minshew II. Evidently, that wasn’t a good enough quarterback plan.”

Minshew might not have been a glamorous free agent signing, but no one was predicting (other than Davante, apparently) that he would struggle to the extent he has.

Through six games, Minshew has thrown only 4 touchdowns and a whopping 8 interceptions. Last year, he threw 9 interceptions for the Colts in 17 games.

Prior to joining the Raiders, Minshew actually compared favorably to Trevor Lawrence as a starting quarterback in Jacksonville…

Unfortunately for the Raiders, they won’t have an opportunity to start Aidan O’Connell at quarterback anytime soon because of a broken finger he suffered against the Rams.

For now, ‘Minshew Mania’ will go on in Las Vegas.

Meanwhile, Gardner’s former All-Pro receiver has found a new dumpster fire to be a part of on the other side of the country.
