What everyone saw out of NY Giants quarterback Daniel Jones against the Seattle Seahawks was just what the doctor ordered for this offense. In a 29-20 win, Jones tossed for 257 yards and two touchdowns on the road.
With that win, the G-Men improved to 2-3 and they're now hoping to get to .500 with a W over the Cincinnati Bengals in primetime. That's the thing, though: Primetime and Danny Dimes don't really mix well together.
It's no secret that Jones has been rough with the Giants playing under the bright lights. Matter of fact, he's 1-13 in his career in primetime, the worst record for any quarterback since 1970. This is obviously a bad look for Jones, but he has a great opportunity to change the narrative on Sunday night against a 1-4 Bengals squad.
Earlier this year, Jones and Big Blue took on the Dallas Cowboys for a Thursday Night Football clash and they were in a great position to post an upset victory. Instead, Dallas made the necessary plays late to record a 20-15 victory. The loss no doubt stung for the Giants, especially since they were so close to getting the job done.
In Week 6 against the Bengals, Joe Burrow and Co. are hoping to save their season. In the Week 5 loss to the Ravens, Burrow tossed for five touchdowns, but the Cincy defense did him no favors in an overtime loss.
Matter of fact, the Cincinnati defense is arguably the worst in the NFL, which could open the door for Jones to have another strong showing. He will be without Malik Nabers, but Darius Slayton proved vs. Seattle he can step up as Jones' top target when needed.
With a win on Sunday night, Jones can silence even more of his critics. With a loss, his primetime record will fall to 1-14 and people will surely race to social media to troll him left and right.
