The Washington Commanders seemed to make the right call in every decision they made last offseason, whether it was hiring general manager Adam Peters, bringing on head coach Dan Quinn or selecting quarterback Jayden Daniels in the 2024 NFL Draft.
On Wednesday, Quinn revealed what the Commanders are looking for when evaluating players at the NFL Scouting Combine.
"At the very front of the line, we're looking for the competitive spirit in a player. Guys who just absolutely love ball. They're willing to show that connection to their teammates and some of that shows up in meetings like it does here (at the combine)--about leadership, tell me some examples.
"The tape and that part of the evaluation, that's clear. But we also want to go full circle and make sure it's so important the people we bring into this crew are going to be part of an outstanding group. And we want to make sure every single thought we can do to add to that, we will. It's much clearer to see that on full display going into this year."
After a 4-13 season in 2023, the Commanders improved to 12-5 last year in Quinn's first season as head coach. It was a big offseason of changes for Washington as ownership transitioned from Dan Snyder, who owned the team from 1999 to 2023, to Josh Harris.
Washington made it to the postseason for the first time since 2020 and won a playoff game for the first time since the 2005 season.
