Dallas Cowboys: Quarterback Dak Prescott Has NSFW Response to Question Regarding Return of Ezekiel Elliott

The Dallas Cowboys have a singular goal in mind for the 2024 NFL season: win the Super Bowl. Dallas has not won a title in nearly 30 years and has not played in the NFC Championship Game since 1995. With head coach Mike McCarthy not getting a contract extension this offseason, the message is clear: win or changes will be made.

Quarterback Dak Prescott and wide receiver CeeDee Lamb are both due for massive contract extensions that could make them the highest paid players at their respective positions. But while Prescott is present for mandatory mini camp, Lamb is not as he awaits his new deal in light of Justin Jefferson‘s monster contract with the Minnesota Vikings.

While there is no doubt that most, if not all, of Lamb’s teammates support him during his holdout, the situation is a distraction that a team with the highest of goals cannot afford to have. Lamb, of course, will have no trouble getting up to speed once he does report for team activities; however, if Dallas fails to make a deep postseason run, this situation will be talked about as one of the reasons why the Cowboys did not succeed.

Fortunately for the Cowboys, they do have a number of experienced veterans that are setting the tone and taking leadership roles among the players. One of these veterans is running back Ezekiel Elliott, who re-signed with the franchise the drafted him after spending the 2023 NFL season with the New England Patriots.

Elliott, of course, spent his first seven seasons in the NFL with the Cowboys, becoming the franchise’s third all-time leading rusher with 8,262 yards. Dallas decided to bring him back after Tony Pollard signed with the Tennessee Titans in free agency. Elliott is projected to share rushing duties with Rico Dowdle and Royce Freeman.

Coach McCarthy has stated that the Cowboys will be utilizing a running back by committee approach this season. Even though he will not get the workload that he had in his first stint with Dallas, Elliott is embracing being back and the rest of the team is enjoying having him around.

Elliott’s teammates that were there during his first seven seasons with Dallas sure are glad to have him back. When Prescott was asked about his return, he said, “[It’s] the  f—– best.”

The three-time Pro Bowl running back also revealed what his approach to the offseason workouts with the team has been:

“I definitely work to be that guy. Being recognized means a lot. The main thing is we’re going to have fun, but we’re going to work. We’re going to get work. We’re going to be taking ourselves forward, but we got to have fun doing it.”
