After trading Davante Adams ahead of the 2024 trade deadline, the Raiders went into the offseason looking for answers at wide receiver.
It was reported in March that the Raiders wanted a “true no. 1” wide receiver and there were rumors at the time that head coach Pete Carroll was looking at D.K. Metcalf as a possibility.
Ultimately, the Steelers were the most aggressive team in trade talks for Metcalf and Pittsburgh landed the former Seahawks receiver along with a sixth-round pick in exchange for a first and seventh-round pick.
Carroll was a guest this week on Marshawn Lynch and Michael Robinson’s Get Got Pod and Lynch joked that Carroll tried to bring all of his former players to Las Vegas with him.
“He tried to bring everybody up out of that building,” Lynch said about Carroll and his former players in Seattle.
“I know,” Robinson interjected. “Remember DK [Metcalf] wanted to go there.”
Robinson and Lynch glazed over the comment quickly and it sounded like it might have been a topic they didn’t have the green light to discuss.
Whatever it was that ended the Metcalf talk so quickly, the most important detail came through clearly.
The Raiders might not have been able to work out a trade for Metcalf, but it sounds like there was a time when he was trying to make it happen.
