Cowboys Trade Proposal Has Them Make A Deal For Ex 3rd Round Pick

Now, packing a brand new guard in the form of first round rookie, Tyler Booker, and receiver, George Pickens – acquired from the Steelers back in May – the Cowboys’ offense looks set.

Except, perhaps, for the run game, which will be reliant on free agent acquisitions, Javonte Williams and Miles Sanders, alongside fifth round rookies, Jaydon Blue and Phil Mafah.

None of these options project to be home-run hitters straight out of the gate, so Dallas could turn to options via trade to help bolster one of the weakest units on the roster.

And an interesting option could be Los Angeles Rams running back, Blake Corum, who might be expendable in Los Angeles just a year after being drafted in the third round of the 2024 draft out of Michigan.

A Blake Corum Trade Could Be Mutually Beneficial This Offseason

Corum came as a highly touted prospect in 2024, coming hot off the heels of a national championship win that past season. However, he was not able to add much to the Rams’ rushing attack in 2024, producing just yards on the ground, with no touchdowns.

Now with the Rams looking get an extension done with RB1, Kyren Williams, and having just drafted Jarquez Hunter in the fourth round of April’s draft, Corum could see himself become the third, or even fourth option – behind Ronnie Rivers – on LA’s depth chart.

So a fresh start in Dallas, where there is no clear starter at the position, could be exactly what the former 2 x All American needs to kickstart what still could be a very promising career in the professional football.

How Would Corum Fit In With the Cowboys’ Offense?

Although Williams and Sanders are both recognizable names; both made their respective All-Rookie teams, and Sanders was a Pro Bowler in 2022; the two combined for less than 800 yards in 2024. And that – in the case of Williams – was as the team’s designated starter.

Sanders has not found much success since moving down the East Coast from Philadelphia to Carolina, managing less than 700 yards in the two seasons combined since.

And Williams’ once very promising career; he obtained over 900 yards in his rookie season, but has failed to reach that benchmark since; has been derailed by injuries and poor form.

Running back is, unfortunately for the pair, a young man’s game, and Corum certainly still has his youth. Kyren Williams was one of the top backs in football last season, so it is not surprising that Corum’s opportunities were limited.

This move would not be a surefire slam-dunk, but it would give Dallas an opportunity to nurture exceptional talent, and give Corum and opportunity to become the main man at a franchise that, at least on paper, could be ready to compete in the NFC East this fall.
