The Dallas Cowboys will take on the Houston Texans at AT&T Stadium tonight for Monday Night Football and a big decision on CeeDee Lamb has officially been made with the release of the team's inactive list.
Lamb is active and will play tonight. The Cowboys' superstar wide receiver popped up on the injury report over the weekend with a back injury after dealing with a shoulder injury dating back to Week 9 against the Atlanta Falcons.
Lamb being active also confirms sixth-round rookie Ryan Flournoy, who is making his first career start today per his own social media, is being promoted over Jalen Brooks ahead of the game. After Flournoy revealed the lineup news earlier today, there were questions about whether or not it had anything to do with Lamb's game status. With No. 88 ready to go, there's no doubt Flournoy's promotion is legit and has nothing to do with the star's health. Brooks is inactive as a healthy scratch.
Heavy rotation at the position should still be expected as recently-traded for Jonathan Mingo is also active and set to make his Cowboys debut.
Below is the full list of inactives, featuring some big names once again, including All-Pro cornerback DaRon Bland (who's expected to make his season debut soon) and nickelback Jourdan Lewis.
- CB DaRon Bland
- CB Jourdan Lewis
- FB Hunter Luepke
- OT Matt Waletzko
- WR Jalen Brooks
- LB Damone Clark
- DE K.J. Henry
Notes on Cowboys inactives
- No Lewis and no Bland means the Cowboys' will be playing multiple backups in the secondary. Expect to see Israel Mukuamu in the slot and watch out for fifth-round rookie Caelen Carson being on a short leash. He's been targeted a whole lot lately and Josh Butler and Kemon Hall could be waiting for an opening.
- Tyler Guyton is active and ready to go for this one after missing last weekend's loss to the Philadelphia Eagles.
- With no Luepke, TE Princeton Fant was elevated from the practice squad. Expect him to have a role on offense as the fullback/H-back if the Cowboys go with heavier rotations.
