Cowboys Critic Gets It All Wrong in Awful Roster Update

The Dallas Cowboys, over the past week, have been proactive in their offseason business and it has been a breath of fresh air.

The re-signings of several players, most notably Osa Odighizuwa, plus the contract restructures of Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb, now have the Cowboys in the green when it comes to cap space (just over $50 million per Over The Cap).

So that is ample salary cap pie to make a host of moves, and if we factor in a Micah Parsons extension, then that free agent spending money will increase again.

Dallas is doing all the right things that make us think that football, not marketing, is the priority now.

But now comes an odd take from Bleacher Report when looking at the "missing pieces" on offense.

"The skill positions are pretty much locked in, but the line needs significant work after veteran guard Zack Martin called it quits," Bleacher Report writes. "There isn't a lot of money to spend, but Will Fries might be worth it anyway."

Right. There's a bit to work through in that critic’s attempt at a roster update.

Aside from CeeDee and Jake Ferguson, the skill positions are FAR from "locked in" with Jalen Tolbert and Jalen Brooks not trusted enough for a No. 2 receiver role, plus Brandin Cooks is a free agent, and KaVontae Turpin hasn't been re-signed. Oh, and Rico Dowdle, the starting running back from last season, is a pending free agent.

So there's that.

And when it comes to the "isn't a lot of money to spend" section, we only have to look at the moves the Cowboys have already done, which points out that isn't true either, with over $50 million available right now.

The offensive line, though, could use work, yes, and Arizona Cardinals guard Wil Hernandez, and yes, Will Fries, could be seen as options, but Brock Hoffman and T.J. Bass showed promise last season.

But don't let anyone tell you that the Cowboys are strapped for salary cap cash this offseason, because as we have just outlined, that is far from the case.
