“Could Be A Game-Changer”: Giants Pass Rush Could Dominate the 2025 NFL Season According To One Giants Insider

The New York Giants defense has been getting tired over the last few years because of how bad the offense has been. The Giants’ defense was tied for eighth in the NFL last season in sacks with 45.

In 2025, New York will look to improve its 3-14 record to hopefully something better. They should be a lot better on offense and the defense has a chance to be a game-wrecker after drafting edge rusher Abdul Carter from the Penn State Nittany Lions third overall in the 2025 NFL Draft. If the Giants defense can turn heads in 2025, there is a chance that they can get back to the NFL postseason.

Dan Duggan of The Athletic covers the Giants. He has paid close attention to what New York’s defense could potentially become during the 2025 NFL season. The pass rush was the main thing that each Giants fan should be paying attention to heading into training camp and also the 2025 season. Duggan said,

“This pass rush could be a game-changer. The Giants have lacked an identity during the first three years of the Joe Schoen and Brian Daboll era. There has been nothing the team could rely on to give it an advantage, and the result has been a combined nine wins over the past two seasons. That may have changed this offseason. The defense was upgraded by the free-agent signings of cornerback Paulson Adebo and safety Jevon Holland. But the selection of outside linebacker Abdul Carter with the No. 3 pick in the draft could be a game-changer. Teaming Carter with Dexter Lawrence, Brian Burns and Kayvon Thibodeaux should give the Giants a pass rush capable of dominating games.”

Having Thibodeaux, Dexter Lawrence, Carter, and Burns on the same defense could potentially be scary. Don’t also forget that the Giants also drafted defensive tackle Darius Alexander in the third round of the 2025 NFL Draft from the Toledo Rockets. There is a chance that this Giants team could easily record over 50 sacks during the 2025 season.

It is all going to depend upon how well Carter plays early for New York as a rookie. Lawrence for now is the best defensive lineman on this Giants roster. Offensive coordinators are going to have nightmares in trying to prepare to block this defensive front week in and week out. Not a lot of people are expecting New York to do much this season, but a legitimate pass rush can go a long way in this league.
