Corey Perry Reveals Fiery Message That Sparked Overtime Comeback

Corey Perry was one of the catalyst's for the Oilers comeback in Game 4, and now he reveals what he said to the team that sparked the overtime victory.

Through one period of action on Thursday night, the Edmonton Oilers faced a 3-0 deficit in Game 4, with a loss in that game meaning they'd head home facing a 3-1 deficit in the Stanley Cup Finals to the Florida Panthers.

However, they managed to grit through, grinding their way to four straight goals to give them a 4-3 lead late in the third, and while they would end up giving up the game tying goal, Leon Draisaitl would finish things in OT to give them the crucial win, tying the series up at 2-2.

After the game, we found out that it was words of wisdom from veteran Corey Perry that sparked the Oilers comeback.

Corey Perry Opens Up About Inspiring Intermission Messages To His Teammates

Now, the veteran forward has opened up on his message to the team.

Well it wasn't wisdom... Just had to realize where we were in the moment and just kinda look ourselves in the mirror and how we were playing. That's pretty much all it was.

In these moments, some coaches and players look for a big, rousing speech that gets their team fired up, but sometimes, you simply need to get the team to take a step back and realize what's happening, and for the Oilers, that's all it took.

It also didn't hurt that they got key goals from Vasily Podkolzin, Darnell Nurse and Jake Walman to get them back into the game, and with momentum now on their side heading into Game 5, optimism has to be high.

While they came back, the Oilers won't want to get themselves into this deep hole again, and with Perry becoming a firm leader for this team, if he can get them going from the opening puck drop, this is a team that's going to be hard to stop from here on out.
