Commanders Trade Terry McLaurin for First-Round Pick in 'Redefining' Rumor

A new trade "rumor''? Maybe Washington can get a first-round pick back for Terry McLaurin.

If the Washington Commanders see little true light at the end of the 2025 tunnel? Yup. They should trade Terry McLaurin. He turns 30 in September. He wants too much money. And maybe he's closer to "very good'' than "great.''

Washington Commanders Trade Terry McLaurin for First-Round Pick in ' Redefining' Rumor - Athlon Sports

But given the fact that they have rapidly built around quarterback Jayden Daniels With GM Adam Peters opting to spend big in deals to bring in tackle Laremy Tunsil and receiver Deebo Samuel?

And given the fact the before they got here this team was a win away from the Super Bowl in 2024?

Why would anybody see anything but big, beautiful bright lines up ahead?

As receiver McLaurin’s contract negotiations continue to stall, some have grown worried about his potential departure. Speculation has run rampant among national websites, all of them wanting to push McLaurin out of Washington in exchange for ... whatever.

Send McLaurin to the Los Angeles Chargers, to the Pittsburgh Steelers, to the New England Patriots ... hey, pick one of the other 31 teams and you can find a story that "links'' McLaurin to that team.

A new "rumor''? Maybe Washington can get a first-round pick back for McLaurin.

The truth? A trade of this player - barring a holdout that becomes so nasty that both sickened sides want a divorce - would redefine the Commanders’ offseason. ... and not in a good way.

Whether a first-round pick is fair trade compensation isn't even the central argument here. The crux of it all is about how much five consecutive 1,000-yard seasons is worth ... with the assumption that more are coming.

McLaurin has earned the right to be paid like a top receiver; that language means around $30 million per year.

We've seen another "report'' that suggests McLaurin is demanding $37 million per year. We don't believe that number, and we cannot justify that number.

But if the Commanders want to compete for a Super Bowl now? They find the right figure.

And as that is indeed what the Commanders want? Most of the "31 Flavors'' trade predictions are hot air.
