Commanders select Georgia Bulldogs star latest PFF mock draft

The 2025 NFL draft is just a few short weeks away, and mock drafts are in abundance. The Washington Commanders have just five picks in the upcoming draft, and GM Adam Peters will use them wisely. In the most recent PFF mock draft, the Commanders are predicted to select Georgia defensive end Mykel Williams.

29. Washington Commanders: EDGE Mykel Williams, GeorgiaThe Commanders need to find the pièce de résistance of their defense for Dan Quinn’s scheme, and Williams could very well be that foundation. He’s a strong, versatile defender with a ceaseless motor. He has room to improve as a pass rusher, but his 86.6 PFF run-defense grade across the past three seasons (97th percentile) will help him be an early contributor.

As with most draft prospects, Williams will need some development before he's ready for the NFL field. His 6-foot-five, 260-pound frame is a huge presence on the field, and he knows how to use his strength and size to his advantage. However, to have a real impact on the field, he needs to work on the more technical aspects of the game, like timing.

As a senior at Georgia, Williams recorded 21 tackles (15 solo), one pass deflection, five sacks, and two forced fumbles. He did this while sharing time with other players on a defensive rotation at Georgia, which limited his playing time. His impact goes far beyond the stat line, though, as he tears through offensive lines with a bulldog mentality.

The Commanders need to add depth to their defense, and defensive players are becoming a common theme for the first-round pick in most mock drafts.
