The Washington Commanders are heading into the NFL offseason with plenty of momentum following the team's recent run in the NFL playoffs. The Commanders have an opportunity to be among the more active teams in NFL free agency.
On the eve of the Super Bowl in New Orleans, La., Athlon Sports had an opportunity to talk with Jayden Daniels about the upcoming offseason. Daniels partnered with USAA to surprise veterans with a trip to the Super Bowl.
As for Daniels' role in helping the front office build a Super Bowl contender, the star quarterback set the record straight.
"I don't know," Daniels told Athlon Sports with a smile when asked how he would spend a blank check in NFL free agency.
"That's why I don't make those decisions. That's why I leave it up to them."
Spotrac projects that the Commanders will have more than $79.5 million to spend in NFL free agency, the third most in the league. Even if Daniels does not plan to be heavily involved in the Commanders' offseason, the presence of the star quarterback should make Washington an appealing destination in free agency.
Washington is coming off an impressive 12-5 season in 2024 which led to a trip to the NFC Championship. It will be worth watching to see if the Commanders make a run at another star receiver to provide Daniels with even more playmakers in 2025.
