The Washington Commanders' resurgent season came to a close two weeks ago, suffering a decisive defeat at the hands of the Philadelphia Eagles. Their foes proved to be the league's supreme team though, demolishing the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LIX.
While Washington ended short in their ultimate goal, the progress of Dan Quinn's team undeniably moved faster than many expected. That growth can be seen on the Commanders both offensively and defensively.
Starting on offense Jayden Daniels has risen to stardom, staking a claim as one of the NFL's elite quarterbacks just one year on the job. At last week's NFL Honors, Daniels claimed the league's Offensive Rookie of the Year award.
Daniels and the Commanders' offense will get a boost heading into next season after offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury turned down a head coach opening with the New Orleans Saints to remain in town for another year.
Defensively, the team also made strides having Quinn at the helm. His group came away with key takeaways that vaulted the Commanders to victories in the NFC Wild Card and Divisional Rounds.
Now, looking at the offseason, the Commanders will look to plug some holes on their roster while evaluating potential areas for improvement ahead of free agency and April's NFL Draft.
Washington did not make a big splash, but have have conducted their first move of what should be a busy offseason. The team announced the signing of cornerback Bobby Price Monday.
Price appeared in three games for Washington in 2024, getting three separate elevations from the practice squad. The Commanders initially made him one of their final roster cuts following training camp before returning him in that role.
He served mostly in a special teams capacity, totaling one tackle in 34 special teams snaps this season. Price has also spent time previously with the Arizona Cardinals and Detroit Lions.
Now reunited with Washington, he has accumulated 28 tackles, a fumble recovery and three passes defended since entering the league in 2020.
The Commanders will likely seek out bigger moves in the coming months, whether through trade or free agency as they build around Daniels and their core.
