Commanders LB who was called offsides three times vs Eagles' Tush Push is at least being honest about why he wants the play banned

The fate of the Philadelphia Eagles' infamous Tush Push will be decided this week, as NFL owners prepare to vote once again on the controversial play.

In the meantime, several players have shared their thoughts on the Tush Push, among them is Washington Commanders linebacker Frankie Luvu.

"My personal opinion? I think they should ban it," Washington Commanders linebacker Frankie Luvu said during Monday's episode of NFL Network's Good Morning Football. "I know the argument is going to be about you guys have to stop it, don't get us in short yardage, and what not."

During the Commanders’ loss to the Eagles in January’s NFC Championship Game, Luvu was flagged for back-to-back encroachment penalties while trying to stop the Tush Push. Washington also drew an additional offsides penalty during the same sequence, which led referee Shawn Hochuli to warn that he would give the Eagles a touchdown.

The Tush Push is a modified version of QB sneak where the offensive line comes together to push the quarterback's tush during short-yardage situations for a more than likely automatic first down. Philly ran the play 43 times last season and successfully converted it into a first down or touchdown on 39 occasions, an impressive 81.3% success rate.

"It's kind of a cheapo play. It's pretty much a scrum in rugby," Luvu said. "That's how I kind of look at it. We've got a scrum, too, on the other side. The scrum is we have a cadence where we all go at once. It's not like a hard count, this and that. Now you getting us or myself jumping over the pile thinking they're going to snap the ball."

We’ll see if Luvu and the rest of those opposed to the Tush Push get their way when the owners' meetings wrap up on Wednesday
