Commanders' Jayden Daniels Shares Opinion on Terry McLaurin Contract and Chemistry

The Washington Commanders' offseason has been headlined by Terry McLaurin's contract saga that the longer it goes, the more uncomfortable it gets.

With McLaurin not being present at OTAs, minicamp, and now even holding out of training camp as he looks to get his desired contract, it isn't ideal for the offensive momentum, particularly his chemistry with quarterback Jayden Daniels.

We hear all the time about how it takes players a little while to get back into football shape due to missing large chunks of training camp, and if things continue along as they are, Terry will miss a sizable chunk.

But how long would it take for Daniels and McLaurin to get back to the point where they are on the same page?

“Hopefully very, very quickly, whenever that time is,” Daniels said. “I know it's not gonna take much because I know how Terry moves and we kind of know and anticipate things that we could do. But now it's more so like getting him back in that football shape because it's different, just training stuff like that. So him getting back in that shape, getting his legs up under him and we're going from there.”

In an ideal world, McLaurin and the Commanders would get a deal thrashed out in the next week or so, then the receiver would be able to get some sort of work in at camp before the preseason games, and then the regular season gets underway.

Of course, things don't always go smoothly in that aspect, and there is some nervous energy surrounding whether a deal will even get done (we think it will), but the longer it drags on, the more doubt creeps in.

Terry is crucial to any success Washington hopes to have, and the longer he's not at training camp, getting in the work with his teammates, the more detrimental it is to his team.

One way to fix that is for the franchise to sign him to a deal.

He deserves it. Get it done.
