Commanders Fix Jayden Daniels' Protection In Latest Mock

The Washington Commanders have a long list of needs heading into the offseason, and a new receiver for Jayden Daniels is No. 1 for most.

But after witnessing what the Philadelphia Eagles did to the Kansas City Chiefs in the Super Bowl, the Washington offensive line could use some reinforcements.

Plus, when we add in that Daniels was sacked 47 times in his rookie season (sixth-most), it thrusts it high up on the to-do list.

Whether that is via free agency or the draft, Daniels needs better protection and in CBS Sports' latest mock draft, Mike Renner has Washington taking Oregon stud left tackle Josh Conerly Jr.

"His tape or his polish is not why I'm going to bat for him, Renner writes. "I'm going to bat for him because the guy is one of the best athletes in this draft class. At least the best major prospect along the offensive line in this draft class. He can fly. He's got great feet. ... You get a guy like that with Jayden Daniels, I think is when I get really excited because he can pull out in space on those QB-keepers or things of that nature."

With Conerly Jr.'s athletic ability and, as Renner states, his ability to get out and move, given how Kliff Kingsbury likes to run his offense, coupled with how dangerous Daniels is as a runner, having a lineman that can get up-field to the second level is crucial.

Plus, Conerly Jr. was named First Team All-Big Ten and First Team All-American last season, and that is the kind of player the offensive line needs.

One that can get out in space is good in pass protection and is a gifted athlete, Conerly Jr. could be Jayden's blindside protector for years to come.
