Pascal Ibgui may seem like a quirky and interesting candidate for The Golden Bachelor, but if he's cast, he might actually be the fledgling spin-off's worst nightmare. The issue is that Pascal's an unpredictable loose cannon. It's impossible to say for sure how he'll act on the show, but based on his onscreen and off-screen antics, he'll stir the pot. The key to understanding Pascal's in-your-face personality is realizing that he enjoys shocking people. In fact, he seems like an attention-seeker and troublemaker. That aspect of his personality is histrionic. Pascal is overly dramatic and always onstage.
Pascal may be one of those men who's in love with himself. Guys like this want every thought and action to be recognized. If no one notices what they do, they basically wither on the vine. It's like being ignored sucks the life right out of them. Pascal stole his former rival Chock Chapple's thunder when he called the fellow suitor Chock a "stalker," as per a Glamour interview. He later apologized, but the damage was done. Everyone knew he thought Chock was a complete creep.

The fact that Pascal goes so far over the top is a red flag. He seems to think that the universe revolves around him. His opinion is all-important. This type of attitude could make Pascal a liability on The Golden Bachelor. Most people who watch probably want to see a touching romance, with a little drama thrown in to add some spice. They don't necessarily want to watch the kind of man who puts down others and calls out producers.
Pascal blamed The Golden Bachelorette producers for his decision to dump Joan Vassos, as though the concept of free will was alien to him. Couldn't he have "fought the power" by treating Joan how he wanted to? Wouldn't it have been worth rebelling for that? Sure, it would have! Then, he could hold his head high.
Now, he has to remember how he made a woman feel like nothing due to alleged "producer interference." He doesn't seem to feel good about that - and since Chock went after his employers so vengefully, he may turn on others too. Someone who breaks boundaries so easily may enjoy doing it. Pascal could continue offending people, including love interests.
He might turn into a heartbreaker who inflicts more emotional damage than Gerry, who was, on the face of things, a more genial, less intense person.
Combative leads can be interesting, as they aren't afraid of confrontation, but they often lack empathy, and compassion is the cornerstone of The Golden Bachelor. The cast members have lived and learned, and they're not supposed to act like children. They are supposed to be experienced, worldly people who don't fall into the usual ego traps. It's uncertain if Pascal will be able to rein in his sense of superiority and play the gentleman if he's cast in the series.
If he ends up being rude and unfiltered, he may damage the franchise more than the once-likable Gerry did.
Pascal is basking in the spotlight right now - that's when he really comes to life. He's campaigning to become The Golden Bachelor, but that's a red flag in and of itself. It seems like he's just trying to extend his fame, rather than sincerely seeking out true love. If he was a real gentleman, he would have let Joan down gently.

A truly gentlemanly person is the best choice for the show. It's not about money, or upbringing, or education. Some people are naturally refined and others aren't. The refined man will be considerate. That's what the women who appear on The Golden Bachelor need. They need a kind and respectful man who will try to hurt them as little as he can. Above, Pascal mimics Chock, who cooked chicken soup online, by asking fans what he should make in the kitchen. Pascal seems way too competitive.
The future cast of The Golden Bachelor season 2 will all move through a process together, and it takes finesse to treat people well as the show is filmed. The interactions can be troubling - there is competition. There is an array of moving parts and so much to think about.
Pascal seems to put himself first. He might con women, just to keep his options open. He might put them down like he put down Chock. He might be suspicious of them like he is of producers. He's shown some callous traits that aren't totally compatible with being a gentleman. A reality dating series will always have its share of snakes, and hopefully, if Pascal snags the leading role on The Golden Bachelor, he won't become a straight-up villain.
