The Cleveland Browns have three weeks to make a decision about what they want to do with the No. 2 overall pick. At this point in time, three players seem to be the main contenders to land with the Browns with that selection.
Those three players are Shedeur Sanders, Abdul Carter, and Travis Hunter.
Andrew Berry has a tough decision to make. Does he go with the potential franchise quarterback that Cleveland has been needing? Or, do they take another pass rusher or potential star wide receiver?
No one knows what the Browns are going to do. Passing on Sanders would be a tough decision, but there are many who believe that he would be a mistake at No. 2.
Now, a new warning has been issued to Cleveland about Sanders.
During a recent segment of the "Colin Cowherd Podcast," Cowherd issued a strong warning to the Browns. He doesn't see Sanders becoming an elite quarterback.
“Here's the thing about Shedeur Sanders," Cowherd said. "If you're Cleveland, if you draft him, he is, at best, the third-best quarterback in that division. He'll never be as good as [Joe] Burrow. He's not that kind of prospect, and he's not Lamar Jackson. If the Steelers hit on the quarterback in the next two years, he could be four. He's not an exceptional athlete, not an exceptional arm.”
In his four years at the college level, Sanders completed 70.1% of his pass attempts for 14,347 yards, 134 touchdowns, and 27 interceptions. He has shown the ability to make big plays and has shown major arm talent.
Cowherd clearly does not think that Sanders is going to be special. Berry will have to decide whether or not he agrees with that notion.
