The next couple of weeks will consist of the Cleveland Browns, along with other teams around the NFL, putting a bow on their draft boards and finalizing things.
Cleveland has met with prospects like Cam Ward, Abdul Carter, Travis Hunter, and Shedeur Sanders — all players they could be considering taking at No. 2 overall. Now, you can take Ward off of that list because he is going to Tennessee with the top pick. However, the Browns had to do their homework in case of an unforeseen outcome.
Now, the Browns are meeting with a prospect who most believe wouldn’t be in consideration at the No. 2 pick. So, perhaps the Browns are doing their homework for a trade-down?
Michigan DT Mason Graham is set to visit with the Cleveland Browns
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Browns are set to meet with Michigan DT Mason Graham on Monday, before he meets with the Las Vegas Raiders on Tuesday. Graham is the top defensive tackle prospect in the draft after a standout career at Michigan.
Now, the NFL Mock Draft Database has Graham as the No. 5 pick and he is a favorite to be drafted by the Jacksonville Jaguars. If the Browns land Graham, it is going to come in a trade-down move where they acquire extra draft capital from another team that wants to move up. Andrew Berry has always done his due diligence and that is likely what is happening here. The Browns are likely meeting with a player in case they do trade down.
Graham was an All-American for Michigan in 2024 with 45 tackles, 3.5 sacks, and seven tackles for a loss. Graham is quick off his first step and has legit power behind his hands. He can be a force in the run game and is a capable pass rusher with limited moves there.
After drafting Mike Hall Jr. last season, the Browns replaced Dalvin Tomlinson with Maliek Collins this free agency. Shelby Harris is on the roster for another year but the Browns could use more depth on the interior. Graham would give the Browns a high-ceiling player who has a chance to be a star in the NFL.
The Browns meeting with Graham is notable at the very least, as they’re turning over every rock.
