On Sunday, the Minnesota Vikings will be at U.S. Bank Stadium, trying to beat the Houston Texans. This, exactly one week after Sam Darnold & Co hung a W at home on the San Francisco 49ers. Unfortunately, the Vikings also lost Justin Jefferson to a quad contusion, during the victory.
The good news, though, is that JJ was not on the injury report, Friday, and he’s a full go for week three. That’s welcome news for Niners linebacker, Fred Warner. The star defender took to social media recently and broke down what happened on the play, where Jefferson was injured.
Fred Warner’s knee caused Justin Jefferson’s quad contusion
Apparently it was Warner’s knee that collided with Jefferson’s thigh, causing his quad contusion. The Niners stud shows he’s the ultimate class-act with this video, explaining that it was a freak accident, and that he hopes one of the best players in the league heals up asap.
“Justin, man. Obviously, we talked about it beforehand, him being a dog, one of the best players in the league. Of course, you know, has that crazy play where he scores the touchdown. You know, I’m hoping that he can heal up and get healthy for this upcoming week. That was just a crazy accident that happened between me and him. My knee hit him in his quad because their offensive lineman came up, went to the second level, went low. I had to jump over him, we collided. It was just a bang-bang situation. You never want to see a guy, it doesn’t matter if it’s your opponent or not, you don’t want to see a guy go down like that. So hopefully he heals up soon.”
This is cool, man. Everybody knows that Fred Warner didn’t injure Justin Jefferson on purpose. Most didn’t know that he was the one who injured JJ, period. So, for a superstar defensive player like Warner to take the time and make a video, wishing an opposing player the best… is straight class.
And yes, Warner is a defensive superstar. At 27 years old, Fred Warner has already made three Pro Bowls and three All-Pro nods. Greatness recognizing greatness. Today, a San Francisco 49er became one of my favorite non-Vikings in the league.
