It looks a like a former Alabama defensive lineman will once again being stalking the sidelines of Bryant-Denny Stadium.
Chris Stewart, the Voice of the Crimson Tide, confirmed Thursday that former Alabama and NFL standout Damion Square will move into the permanent role of sideline reporter for the Crimson Tide Sports Network.
“It will be for this Saturday and for the season,” Stewart announced Thursday on “The Opening Kickoff” on WNSP-FM 105.5 in Mobile. “Damion’s going to be with us, and we’re excited about having him with us. This is a guy that was a part of three national championships during his playing time (2008-2012).”
Earlier in the week, the Crimson Tide Sports Network announced Square would fill the role for Saturday’s season-opener vs. Western Kentucky but had not yet hired a permanent replacement for Damien Harris.
“He will be out sideline reporter,” Stewart said. “We’re excited to have him. (He has) a lot of enthusiasm. He really, really wanted to be back with his school and his program.
“We’re thrilled to have Damion join us.”
Meanwhile, Harris, who played at Alabama from 2015-18, was announced Aug. 8 as the new sideline reporter for the Crimson Tide Sports Network. Less than a week later, though, Stewart told “The Opening Kickoff” that Harris had instead decided to pursue “another opportunity.”
That opportunity, as it turns out, will be as an analyst for College Football Pregame, a three-hour show set to stream each Saturday morning on CBS Sports HQ.
