Chris ‘Mad Dog’ Russo tasks NFC quarterback to ‘keep his mouth shut’ and challenge the Chiefs ‘to win it all’

The Kansas City Chiefs will have a target on their backs during the 2024 season as they are going to be the team everyone is gunning to beat.

Patrick Mahomes and his red machine have made easy work of the NFL and their reign of dominance has shown no signs of slowing down.

Moreover, the Chiefs struggled on offense throughout the regular season and entered the playoffs in the Wildcard round.

Chiefs endure a challenging season but emerge triumphant in a statement year

This was the first time in the Patrick Mahomes and Andy Reid era that they had to play this early in the postseason.

However, this proved not to be a challenge, defeating the Miami Dolphins at home, and making statements on the road against the Buffalo Bills and Baltimore Ravens.

To top it all off, the Kansas City Chiefs defeated the number one-seeded San Francisco 49ers in Las Vegas.

Technically, 31 teams will strive to knock the Chiefs off their pedestal and claim the Super Bowl crown in New Orleans.

Kansas City has a price on its head with teams looking to deny them the ‘three-peat’

In addition, franchises across the league will have further motivation and deny the Chiefs the never-to-be-done-before three-peat landmark.

Realistically, not all 31 teams will be a threat to the reigning Super Bowl Champions. However, the other 13 teams who enter the playoffs will all be fancying their chances.

Kansas City will have to worry about familiar foes like the Baltimore Ravens, Cincinnati Bengals, Buffalo Bills, and the 49ers. Additionally, emerging talents like the Houston Texans, Detroit Lions, and the Green Bay Packers will pose a threat.

When speaking on The Rich Eisen Show, radio legend Chris ‘Mad Dog’ Russo tasked another quarterback to challenge the Chiefs for the top spot next season.

“Here’s what I want [Aaron] Rodgers to do. He’s won one Super Bowl a long long time ago (2010) and has been very spotty in big games,” Russo said on the podcast.

“How about Aaron this year, keep his mouth shut, no hard knocks, go out there and lead the Jets to 12,13 wins and challenge the Chiefs to win it all.”

Russo encourages Rodgers to have a bounce-back year in his second season with the New York Jets.

Rodgers suffered a season-ending injury on the opening day of 2023

The 10-time Pro Bowler suffered an Achilles tendon rupture after only his fourth offensive snap of the season during the opening Monday Night Football clash against the Buffalo Bills.

There were high expectations for the Jets in 2023 and the same aspirations remain for the franchise in 2024.

Ultimately, Mad Dog has tasked Rodgers with the goal of challenging the Chiefs in the 2024 season to win the Super Bowl.

Could the Jets be added to the list of growing threats to the Chiefs’ throne? Firstly, they would have to qualify for the playoffs, something they have not done since 2010.
