Chiefs’ Xavier Worthy Has Message For Those Chasing Combine Record

Kansas City Chiefs receiver Xavier Worthy made headlines at the scouting combine in Indianapolis last year with his 40-yard dash time.

Kansas City Chiefs' Xavier Worthy Announces Message For NFL Draft Speedsters Chasing Combine Record - Athlon Sports

Worthy, who at the time wasn't high on many boards, posted a combine record of 4.21 for the 40-yard dash, as he showed off his blazing speed.

But when you are at the top, you are there to be shot at, and this season, many receivers and running backs tried to knock Worthy off his perch.

Isaiah Bond stated that he would break the record when he ran his 40, and running back Jaylen Blue was also confident in his ability to be quicker than Worthy.

But both failed, yet still running a 4.3.

And, of course, Xavier had to let it be known that he was still the king.

He took to his Instagram story and posted, the combine runs with the caption: "Respect those who come before you."

Now, we imagine that Worthy's post is all in good fun (from Texas too) with the Texas pair failing to take the record for themselves, and as long as Xavier is the top dog, it will take something special to beat his time.

In his first season with the Chiefs, Worthy's speed was on show, and Andy Reid put him in a great position to be successful. Of course, it helps when Patrick Mahomes throws you the ball, too.

He finished with 638 yards and six touchdowns in the regular season, plus 287 yards and three touchdowns in the playoffs to put an exclamation mark on his first NFL season.

But he also wants it to be known that he is the king of the 40-yard dash.
