The Kansas City Chiefs have a keeper in quarterback Patrick Mahomes, who has really helped shape this franchise over the past several years. As the Chiefs prepare for their upcoming 2025-26 season, they’re working hard at practice, and Mahomes is helping to lead the pack on the field.
Mahomes is more than just a quarterback. He’s a leader, and that’s partly why he’s had so much success in the NFL. It’s not like Mahomes has been ignored during his NFL career, because plenty have recognized his talents, but it still feels good to see him recognized again.
In a feature for CBS Sports published on Saturday, Aug. 2, Bryan DeArdo predicts one Hall of Famer for each NFL team. Can you guess who he picks from the Kansas City Chiefs? Bingo.
Patrick Mahomes is Likely a Future Hall of Famer
In the CBS Sports feature, DeArdo makes the point that there’s “no official criteria when determining who is enshrined in the Pro Football Hall of Fame.” He adds, “That being said, based on who has and who hasn’t been enshrined over the past 50 years, it’s safe to say that there are certain things the voters look at when determining who should get a bronze bust and a gold jacket.”

For the piece, DeArdo used “interpretation of some of the unspoken criteria used when determining who gets into the Hall of Fame,” and he created a tally of each NFL team’s player with the best chance to make it into the Hall.
So, who did he pick for the Chiefs? Mahomes, of course. In fact, he says that Mahomes is a “lock” to make the Hall and that “Mahomes is already knocking on Canton’s doors.”
“Mahomes is only adding to his Hall of Fame bona fides at this point,” he adds. “Two years ago, he joined Tom Brady and Joe Montana as the only players to win three league and Super Bowl MVPs.”
He adds, “Mahomes also joined Brady, Montana, Terry Bradshaw and Troy Aikman as the only starting quarterbacks to win at least three Super Bowls.” So, Mahomes is an absolute given for the Hall at some point.
Who’s the Best Quarterback in the NFL?
Many would say that Mahomes is the best quarterback in the NFL, and he has the championship wins to prove it. But, in a piece published on Friday, Aug. 1, by Fox Sports, they named Josh Allen of the Buffalo Bills the top signal-caller in the league.
“It says a lot to be ranked ahead of (Patrick) Mahomes,” the Fox Sports team states in the feature. “While Allen has yet to beat Mahomes in the playoffs, he showed consistency with his arm and legs last season. In 2024, despite not having a single elite target after Stefon Diggs went to Houston, Allen threw for 3,731 yards and 28 touchdowns.”
Chiefs followers would likely have something to say about this ranking, but it’s just one opinion. If the Chiefs advance past the Bills as they have for several seasons now, there will be no reason to keep Mahomes at No. 2.
