Chiefs Sign New Potential Starter To Help Patrick Mahomes

The Kansas City Chiefs will look to keep their lead in the AFC when they face the Carolina Panthers on Sunday.

Although the Chiefs have done plenty of things right to get to 9-1, they have still struggled to find consistency in multiple position groups, one of those being left tackle.

However, the team may have found a solution to their left tackle issues, as they signed DJ Humphries on Friday.

Humphries, a one-time Pro Bowler with the Arizona Cardinals, was just medically cleared to return to action after he suffered a torn ACL in Week 17 of last season. While it's unlikely that Humphries will start right away, or even be active against the Panthers, there is a strong chance that her could become Kansas City's starter in the coming weeks with the playoffs approaching.

Earlier in the week, coach Andy Reid teased that the Chiefs could be looking for a new left tackle while discussing current starter Wanya Morris' recent performance.

"I actually thought Wanya got a little bit better this week," Reid said. "He's been doing that for the most part every week, but the injury stepped in on it last week for a while. I felt like he did some good things for a young guy, he improved and will continue to improve with reps there. Then, as far as a veteran player goes, [general manager Brett] Veach is always keeping his eyes open, so he would be the one that heads that up, and he birddogs all that."
