We are a couple of weeks away from the NFL Draft and most teams have a general idea of which way they will go in the first round, and for the Kansas City Chiefs, from the outside at least, their way is clear.
After a season that saw Patrick Mahomes be sacked 36 times in the regular-season, which is a career-high, the Chiefs, who also lost Joe Thuney to the Chicago Bears, signed Jaylon Moore to fill the left tackle role.
But just 12 starts in four years doesn't instill too much confidence that Moore is the long-term guy, which is why in most mock drafts, Kansas City continues to add to its offensive line room.
And for NFL.com's Lance Zierlein, Ohio State's Josh Simmons comes to the Chiefs.
"Simmons' fall stops with Kansas City," Zierlein writes. "He has the best size/length/athleticism profile at the left tackle position in this entire draft, which might be too much for Andy Reid and Brett Veach to pass on."
Yes, there are other defensive needs that the Chiefs could address here, but with the franchise's most prized asset spending a lot of time on the turf last season, particularly in the Super Bowl, you don't want that happening again.
Moore's contract is a two-year deal, which doesn't sound like the Chiefs, right now, see him as the long-term starter, so getting a rookie in Simmons to come in and in an ideal world, take over the starting role is a good plan.
Kingsley Suamataia could shift inside to guard, and that could mean Simmons nails down the tackle spot and help Mahomes stay upright.
The consensus is that the Chiefs' first-round pick will be on an offensive lineman, and considering No. 15 is the best in football, getting him good protection is a great place to start.
