New Kansas City Chiefs receiver Jalen Royals has given insight into Andy Reid's playbook.
The transition from college to the NFL for some players is a smooth one, but for others, it's a little trickier, and for Kansas City Chiefs rookie Jalen Royals, he is starting his NFL journey with an offensive wizard in Andy Reid.
With the Chiefs' rookie minicamp beginning, Royals, like his fellow rookies are beginning to get their feet wet in the offseason activities and get to know the building and playbook before the veterans come in for work.
But the life of an NFL rookie isn't always smooth sailing, nor should it be; it's a big jump from college, and for Royals, he's coming to one of the best offensive minds in football.
And that means the offensive scheme and system aren't easy to learn.
"It's very complex, dealing with Andy Reid, it's a very complex offense," Royals said.

That is expected.
Coming to a Chiefs offense that has a host of receivers, Royals will be fighting for his place this offseason. Rashee Rice, Xavier Worthy, Marquise Brown, and Juju Smith-Schuster are the ones ahead of him.
Then we add in Skyy Moore, and suddenly Royals' position on the depth chart is rather low.
But that's expected for rookies, and Royals knows he will have to study the playbook, dot his I's, and cross his T's this offseason in preparation for training camp in the coming months.
Because it will be there where he will be able to show the coaching staff if he's worthy of a spot on the roster in 2025.
And learning Reid's "complex" offense will go a long way to achieving that.
