The Kansas City Chiefs are a week away from officially defending their championship title. On Sept. 5, they will host the Baltimore Ravens as they hang another banner to the rafters.
Until we get there, teams are finalizing their 53-man rosters and practice squads. Cutdown day was on Aug. 27 at 3 p.m. CT, and countless players were let go.
That has made Wednesday a hectic day on the waiver wire and the Chiefs decided to swap one former Dallas Cowboy corner for another.
Kansas City News: Chiefs Claimed Eric Scott
NFL Network's Tom Pelissero revealed that the Kansas City Chiefs have claimed former Dallas corner Eric Scott on Wednesday. This comes one day after they waived Kelvin Joseph, who also played for the Cowboys.
Scott was drafted by the Cowboys in the sixth round of the 2023 NFL Draft but didn't make an appearance last season. Despite that, he's had a very productive preseason this summer. The Southern Miss product registered six total tackles, two pass deflections, and one interception.
Meanwhile, Joseph recorded 11 tackles, one forced fumble, and one pass deflection in the preseason.
The Chiefs liked what they saw in Scott more so they decided to pivot for this former Cowboy instead.
Kansas City has been searching for more depth in the secondary for the 2024 season and Scott could be someone who takes advantage of the opportunity.
Trent McDuffie and Joshua Williams are listed as the starters on the Chiefs website but injuries happen in the league so you never know who will have to step up. As of now, Kansas City likes what they saw on tape and wants to get a better look in person.
