Chiefs proposed midseason blockbuster lands five-time Pro Bowl wideout

Of all the teams to watch at the 2024 NFL trade deadline, the Kansas City Chiefs are easily the most intriguing.

As the Chiefs pursue a third-consecutive Super Bowl win, a feat that has never been accomplished in NFL history, the skill player cupboard has gone bare. Injuries to Hollywood Brown, Isiah Pacheco, and Rashee Rice have left the Chiefs with Travis Kelce... and not much else.

What stood out from Chiefs Week 5 'MNF' win vs. Saints 'GMFB'

"GMFB" on what stood out from the Kansas City Chiefs Week 5 "Monday Night Football" win vs. New Orleans Saints.

Despite all that, the Chiefs are the only remaining unbeaten team in the AFC, and will be a tough out for anyone when the playoffs come around. But to re-establish themselves as Super Bowl favorites, they will likely look to add one more quality receiver at the deadline.

Fortunately, there may be a future Hall of Famer up for grabs at this year's deadline. Cody Benjamin of CBS Sports urged the Chiefs to acquire Tennessee Titans five-time Pro Bowl receiver DeAndre Hopkins in a deadline blockbuster.

"The Chiefs reportedly tried to land Hopkins before he signed with Tennessee, and now they're in dire need of veteran help for Patrick Mahomes, with Rashee Rice and Marquise Brown significantly banged up," Benjamin said.

Hopkins, 32, hasn't made a Pro Bowl since 2020, but it's hard to say how much of his drop-off has been due to personal decline as opposed to poor quarterback play. He's seen some true no-names under center for the Arizona Cardinals and Titans the last four seasons.

With 12,476 career yards and 78 touchdowns, there's little doubt that Hopkins ranks high among the greatest active receivers. But he's never been particularly close to winning a Super Bowl ring, and that thought has to be at the front of his mind as his career winds down.

There's no better place to go nowadays to chase rings than Kansas City. The Chiefs and Hopkins could be the scariest pairing in the league the rest of the way.
