Those that grew up on The Muppet Show and are now fond followers of the NFL would likely agree that Kansas City Chiefs superstar Partick Mahomes sounds like Kermit the Frog. Those who also fall into that category would most likely agree that Mahomes is on pace to pass Tom Brady for the greatest football player, and potentially even athlete, of all time. Mahomes’ greatness isn’t for everyone, especially his most significant competitors.
On Thursday, the Las Vegas Raiders stole the headlines of training camp day two, with the team passing around a Patrick Mahomes Kermit the Frog-esque doll while mocking the quarterbacks’ “I’m here” saying from years before. The consensus is the Raiders’ blatant disrespect towards the two-time MVP will age abysmally, with the Chiefs 10-2 against their AFC West rival.
Las Vegas Raiders: Take Shot at Kansas City Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes
The worst thing an NFL team could do is add fuel to the fire of one of the best quarterbacks in league history. It’s a terrible idea when that quarterback plays in the same division. That’s exactly what the Las Vegas Raiders did when a viral video circulated on Thursday of the team openly mocking Kansas City Chiefs gunslinger Patrick Mahomes.

In the now-viral video, a Raiders defensive back is seen manning a Kermit the Frog doll dressed as Mahomes, mocking the signal-caller for his vocal similarity to The Muppet Show star. The Raiders-Chiefs rivalry goes back decades. However, Kansas City has gotten the best of Las Vegas in recent years, including beating them 48-9 in 2021 after Raiders players were seen stomping on the midfield logo at Arrowhead Stadium during pregame warmups.
The Raiders have long struggled against the Chiefs under Patrick Mahomes. The Texas Tech product is 10-2 in his career against the AFC West foe while throwing for a ludicrous 3,573 yards, 30 touchdowns, and four interceptions during that span. His 109.6 rating against the Raiders is his highest against any team, with a minimum of five starts.
Patrick Mahomes: Entering Year Seven
The 2024 season will mark Patrick Mahomes’ seventh NFL season, all with the Kansas City Chiefs. Mahomes had a somewhat down statistical season last year regarding his standards, throwing for 4,183 yards, 27 touchdowns, and a career-high 14 interceptions. However, He once again shined in the playoffs, throwing six touchdowns against one pick while leading the Chiefs to their third Super Bowl victory in five seasons.
Kansas City emphasized adding offensive weapons this offseason, signing former 1,000-yard receiver Marquise “Hollywood” Brown and drafting Texas Longhorns speedster Xavier Worthy with the 28th overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. The Chiefs will return the pass-catching duo of future Hall of Fame tight end Travis Kelce and star receiver Rashee Rice.
