This offseason has been very different for Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce compared to how he spent his time off in 2024. Last year at this time, Kelce was often spotted across the ocean, supporting his girlfriend, 14-time Grammy Award winner Taylor Swift, as she performed her Eras Tour in Europe. Coming off of a victory in Super Bowl LVIII, the future Pro Football Hall of Famer was basking in glory of Kansas City’s second consecutive title.
But this offseason has been the polar opposite. After Kelce and the Chiefs fell to the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl LIX, many wondered if he would even play in 2025. Some thought he would retire, and had Kansas City won, he just might have.

Not wanting to end his career with a loss in the Super Bowl, Kelce did not take much time to make a decision for the 2025 season. He is going to play.
But in order for Kansas City to return to the top of the NFL world, he knew that he would have to play better. Last year, he had 97 receptions for 823 yards and three touchdowns. And while these numbers are far from bad, they were his lowest since 2014, his second season in the league.
Now 35 years old, Kelce also knew that he needed to take better care of his body this offseason in order to get ready for the grind of another year in the NFL. So, he and Swift both took the opportunity to lay low. With the paparazzi held at bay, the Chiefs tight end has worked hard to get in better shape.
And according to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, he has lost 25 pounds as a result.
Last season, Kelce played weighing 250 pounds. Dropping 25 pounds would put him at 225, which would be lighter than he has been at any point in his professional career.
