Chiefs News: NFC West Club Hosting Kadarius Toney Leaves Fans Stunned – Report

Washington Commanders Kadarius Toney

Last week, the Kansas City Chiefs parted ways with wide receiver Kadarius Toney after nearly two years with the club. Toney, a former first-round pick and budding special teams ace, struggled with drops and inconsistency during his time with Kansas City, ultimately leading to the AFC West team releasing him in late August. However, it took only a short time for the Florida product to gain interest from other competing teams.

Toney will visit the Seattle Seahawks on Tuesday as he eyes his return to the NFL. Despite a less-than-prominent role with the Chiefs since 2022, Toney grabbed the eyes of fans and media members. Naturally, league devotees quickly jumped on Twitter following the announcement that Toney was potentially joining Seattle.

According to NFL insider Field Yates:

The Seahawks hosted free agent WR Kadarius Toney on a visit.

Kadarius Toney spent the past year and a half with the Kansas City Chiefs, making little headway as a wideout. However, he performed well as a specialist, returning six punts for 112 yards during the 2022 playoffs. He finished his Kansas City tenure with 41 catches for 340 yards and three touchdowns. Initially the 20th overall selection in the 2021 NFL Draft, Toney spent his first two seasons with the New York Giants, tallying 41 receptions for 420 yards and no scores.

Toney’s struggles with drops remain well documented in NFL circles, with many fans shocked the 25-year-old survived three years in the NFL before his release. He has also dealt with off-the-field issues during his professional career. Following news that Toney would visit the Seattle Seahawks, fans were quick to poke fun at the NFC West squad for attempting to revive his career.
