The Kansas City Chiefs are preparing for their upcoming AFC championship game matchup with the Buffalo Bills, with the winner getting to advance to Super Bowl 59. Before the action gets underway, though, the Chiefs shared a historic announcement regarding their star cornerback Trent McDuffie.
After being selected with the 21st overall pick of the 2022 NFL Draft, McDuffie has quickly turned himself into one of the top cornerbacks in the league. In just his second season in 2023, he was a first-team All-Pro, and he earned second-team All-Pro honors for his play in 2024.
McDuffie has been at his best when the lights are the brightest, as evidenced by this latest revelation from Kansas City. Ahead of their huge contest against the Bills, the Chiefs announced that McDuffie now holds the franchise record for passes defended in the playoffs, with the talented defender having already broken up 13 passes.
"McDuffie now holds the franchise record for the most passes defensed (13) in the playoffs," the Chiefs said in a post on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Despite getting targeted frequently, McDuffie has held up in coverage on a consistent basis early on in his playoff career. That's probably one of the reasons that Kansas City has yet to lose a postseason game since his arrival to the league, and they have shown no signs of slowing down early on in these playoffs.
Against a high-flying Buffalo offense, though, McDuffie is going to have his hands full. With several talented pass-catchers at their disposal, McDuffie will likely stick to one side of the field and guard whoever gets the misfortune of lining up across from him.
Bills quarterback Josh Allen likely won't look his way much, but even when he does, there's a good chance McDuffie will sneak in for a pass breakup. And if he can continue to play at this high level for the Chiefs, they will have a great shot at taking down Buffalo to advance to the Super Bowl.
