Chiefs GM Reveals 'Logical' Draft Landing Spots

As the NFL draft fast approaches, the Kansas City Chiefs, for most, have glaring needs that a first round selection could fix.

One is along the defensive line with an edge rusher or interior lineman, and the other is along the offensive line with left tackle being problematic for the franchise last season.

Jaylon Moore was signed to a two-year deal in free agency, but that has been labeled as a "band-aid" move by NFL Network's Brian Baldinger.

Still, most know what areas the Chiefs "should" be targeting in the first round, and general manager Brett Veach just confirmed it.

"From a 1,000-foot view, it's probably safe to say that offensive line, defensive line and cornerback [are areas] where the draft has some numbers," Veach said. "I think that would be a logical landing spot for us early in the draft, but I think we're always in the mindset to add players that we have graded as impact players, and we certainly wouldn't shy away from continuing to add to our receiver room as well."

While corner and defensive line are needs, the offensive line looms as perhaps the most pressing.

Yes, Moore was signed, but just 12 starts in four years, he is a relatively unknown product across the duration of a season. Will the Chiefs put all their eggs in Moore's basket to be Patrick Mahomes' protector?

Or will they look to add some depth with a first round pick who could eventually take over?

Veach knows where the franchise will go with its first pick, and for most, offensive line is where the Chiefs must go in round one.
