Chiefs Gets Concerning News About Patrick Mahomes

Patrick Mahomes: Biography, NFL Quarterback, 2024 Super Bowl MVP

There’s no denying that Patrick Mahomes of the Kansas City Chiefs is one of the greatest quarterbacks of his generation for a variety of reasons. Not many guys have won multiple titles before they were 30 years old, but Mahomes has done that and more. He’s a force on the field and a personality off the field.

Mahomes has won titles, while other star quarterbacks, such as Lamar Jackson and Josh Allen, are still looking for their first. Now, it’s not completely their fault, because Mahomes has enjoyed a great roster of players around him, but it still says something big that Mahomes has been able to secure so many wins for the Chiefs.

Now, there’s a new set of numbers out that may seem a bit troubling to those in the Chiefs camp. It’s nothing to lose sleep over but worth studying.

Patrick Mahomes Numbers From 2024 Season

Mahomes had another stellar 2024 season that bring the Chiefs all the way to the final game. However, in a PFF feature from Mason Cameron published on Friday, June 27, Cameron revels the top 10 10 NFL quarterbacks by time to throw, and he isn’t has high as one might expect on the tally.

In the piece, he looks at quarterbacks for both over and under 2.5 seconds. “While there’s more than one way to succeed in the NFL, one of the largest factors in a quarterback’s success is how much time they have to throw,” he notes.

Based on 2024 numbers, Mahomes comes in at No. 7 on the roster of quarterback for under 2.5 seconds, behind guys such as Joe Burrow, Russell Wilson, Baker Mayfield and Aaron Rodgers. He doesn’t even appear in the top 10 for over 2.5 seconds.

So, hopefully these numbers will improve during the 2025 season. Again, it isn’t something to lose a lot of sleep over but certainly something to watch.

A Rival for the Kansas City Chiefs

For what it’s worth, former general manager of the New York Jets and current NFL analyst Mike Tannenbaum thinks the Chiefs will have issues with one team going into the 2025 season. Not that he’s right, but those are his thoughts.

When it comes to who will win the AFC, Tannenbaum said on ESPN’s Get Up, “Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills, because of their style of play.”

“Coach Belichick talks a lot about, oftentimes in the NFL, teams lose games before you ever have to win them,” Tannenbaum added. He also said that the Bills “are a hard team to beat because they don’t have self-inflicted wounds. I think they’ll continue to get better on the outside with Keon Coleman and another year of development. But this is a team, to me, that has a very, very high floor because they don’t self-destruct.”

Hey, that doesn’t scare the Chiefs. Kansas City has beaten them more than enough time to have confidence that they can do it again. The Chiefs and Bills will play each other in Week 9 of the 2025 season, giving both Mahomes and Allen some time to get ready for what’s likely going to be an AFC Championship game again.
