Patrick Mahomes wants to become the first quarterback to win three crowns in a row, a feat Tom Brady never managed.

The odds are stacked against the franchise and the long-term success is not expected to last considering the NFL system.

However, being the first team to play every day of the calendar week since 1927, playing two of their biggest AFC title threats in the opening weeks, and being the team everyone wants to knock off, will not shake the confidence and mentality of Mahomes.

Patrick Mahomes’ offseason mentality is something to be admired by all teammates

The 28-year-old knows that their offseason training has to be perfect through preseason and the opening day to have a shot at undisputed glory.

Therefore, Mahomes approaches his training just like any other game and does not shift his mentality.

Mitch Holthus spoke about Patrick Mahomes’ character during the OTAs and was in awe of his competitive nature.

“Patrick Mahomes attacks OTAs as if it’s a game, he does it with training camp, but in OTAs in June, he is approaching it where every snap matters,” Holthus explained via the Chiefs X account.

“I even said to him, ‘Dude I love the way you attack it’, and he (Mahomes) goes, ‘I’m kind of competitive’, and I’m like, ‘Gosh, no the way you hit this every day’. But that also tells you what this energy does for the rest of his teammates to see if he’s doing it, why would I do it?”

Holthus hints that Mahomes’ mentality in training is infectious for the other players and encourages them to approach in this manner.

Patrick Mahomes has predicted that the Chiefs have a new ability on offense

Furthermore, the six-time Pro Bowler has hinted that he believes the team has a new dynamic on offense.

Mahomes wants to throw deep in 2024, and the additions of Marquise Brown and Xavier Worthy will add a vertical threat downfield.

In addition, Mecole Hardman has returned from free agency on a one-year deal to add further speed to an explosive offense.

Mahomes’ mentality highlights just how important offseason training is and he knows that they must lay down the groundwork as early as possible.
