After trading for WR DeAndre Hopkins and EDGE Joshua Uche earlier in the fall, the Kansas City Chiefs decided to keep their powder dry at the deadline. While some of their contender rivals reloaded before the second half of the season, the Chiefs are feeling good about their chances for a historic three-peat.
Staying quiet before the November 5 trade deadline doesn't mean that GM Brett Veach will not make more moves. There may be cuts and free agent signings in the upcoming weeks. The most likely one involves a recent draft bust. Disappointing wide receiver Skyy Moore survived the trade deadline against all odds but may find it hard to make it through the season in Kansas City.
In his third season with the Chiefs, Moore has failed to take a step forward. In his rare appearances, he has continued to struggle to make catches. The former second-round pick is unlikely to be a part of the rotation for the rest of the year, increasing the likelihood of his release.
One thing that is saving Moore right now is the fact that he is on the injured reserve list. He missed the last two games for the Chiefs and will be out for at least two more weeks with a core muscle injury.
Once it is time to activate Moore, the Chiefs may be unwilling to do so. Kansas City has DeAndre Hopkins, Xavier Worthy, JuJu Smith-Schuster, Mecole Hardman, and Justin Watson as their wideout rotation. Unless one of these playmakers gets injured in the next few weeks, it's hard to imagine Moore playing a part for the Chiefs again.
