The Kansas City Chiefs are still the best team in the AFC.
Kansas City lost the Super Bowl this past February against the Philadelphia Eagles, but it did win the two previous big games. The Chiefs went 15-2 this past season despite all of the injuries and should be able to be equally as good in 2025.
While this is the case, the Chiefs could use more reinforcements for the offensive line. The Chiefs retained Trey Smith this offseason to the surprise of some, but also traded Joe Thuney away. That deal certainly was a surprise and the offensive line remains the team's biggest question mark. this was the case during the season and even more now.
What will the Chiefs do to help fix it?
Pro Football Focus' Jordan Plocher predicted that the Chiefs will select offensive tackle Josh Simmons out of Ohio State.
"No. 31. Kansas City Chiefs: T Josh Simmons, Ohio State," Ploucher said. "After the Chiefs' lackluster offensive showing in Super Bowl 59, it became apparent that upgrading their offensive line should be their top priority. Simmons has the ideal size for an NFL tackle at 6-foot-5 and 317 pounds with 33-inch arms. He had an injury-shortened season in 2024 but earned an 82.0 PFF pass-blocking grade before getting hurt."
He's ranked as the No. 4 offensive tackle in this draft class and No. 30 overall prospect by ESPN. This is the exact type of move that would help the Chiefs maintain their momentum into the 2025 season. As long as they can protect Patrick Mahomes, they are going to be Super Bowl contenders.
