Earlier today, the Chicago Bears signed defensive tackle Byron Cowart to the active roster from their practice squad. He had already been elevated three times this season, so they had to sign him to the 53-man roster per league rules. He takes the spot that was opened when tight end Stephen Carlson went on injured reserve last week.
The Bears are shorthanded at defensive tackle again, with Zacch Pickens being ruled out for tomorrow’s game against the Carolina Panthers.
Speaking of injured reserve, next week, the Bears have the option to designate offensive linemen Larry Borom and Ryan Bates, defensive end Jacob Martin, and long snapper Patrick Scales to return.
Each club can designate up to eight players to return from injured reserve each season, with teams in the postseason getting an additional two designations.
