Chicago Bears Day 2 needs are still heavily present after opting to give Caleb Williams a big-bodied target in the first-round

The Chicago Bears made somewhat of a stunning decision going the tight end route with the 10th overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.

Adding a tight end to pair with Cole Kmet seemed to be a popular route to go with in the first-round but the surprise was choosing Michigan's Colston Loveland over Penn State's Tyler Warren.

Regardless, the talent top off at the position after those two players is massive. Getting the tight end in round one was the right call, allowing the Bears to take advantage of the deeper class at other positions of need. Speaking of which, here are the top positions the Bears could look into on Day 2 and which prospects we should focus on.

1. Defensive End

The top remaining need has to be at defensive end. The first-round was filled with talented edge rushers, although multiple had individual concerns to be worried about. Therefore, the Bears opted not to take an impact pass rusher 10th overall.

General manager Ryan Poles stressed the importance of having waves of pass rushers yet so far the only addition in that department off the edge has been Dayo Odeyingbo, pairing him with Montez Sweat, Austin Booker, and Dominique Robinson.

Adding one of the top guys on Day 2 makes sense given the talent still remaining at the position. Multiple guys have impact ability if the Bears add one to the rotation.

Top Fits: Nic Scourton, Mike Green, Donovan Ezeiruaku, JT Tuimoloau, Princely Umanmielen

2. Interior Defensive Line

Everything mentioned above for edge rusher applies to the interior of the defensive line as well. The Bears added an experienced veteran to the room in Grady Jarrett, joining Gervon Dexter Sr. and Andrew Billings. But behind those three, things don't look so hot in terms of depth.

Chicago brought back Chris Williams and Jonathan Ford while having former fourth-round pick Zacch Pickens still around. Neither one of those three bring much confidence to the position like the team would like to have in a fierce rotation.

The interior class is loaded this year, even if we saw BLANK go in the first-round. There's still some really strong interior defenders who fit what the Bears need.

Top Fits: Darius Alexander, Shemar Turner, Omarr Norman-Lott, Alfred Collins

3. Running Back

It was a shock to see the Bears pass on a running back in the first-round but with Ashton Jeanty off the board already, the Bears seemingly will look to take their chances landing a quality starter on Day 2.

For Ben Johnson's offense to run effectively, he'll need a power back to handle the bulk of the carries while D'Andre Swift mixes in as the change of pace, explosive back. Or, the Bears pivot completely and add an all-around back to be the workhorse.

Either way, all signs point toward the Bears making some kind of addition to the backfield with one of their three Day 2 selections on Friday.

Top Fits: TreVeyon Henderson, Kaleb Johnson, Quinshon Judkins

4. Safety

This seems like a much bigger need for 2026 but one the Bears can address ahead of time in this draft. Going into the 2025 season, both starters will be returning to the position in Kevin Byard and Jaquan Brisker.

Both players are currently headed into the final year of their contracts with the team. Byard will be 32 when the 2025 season begins and Brisker's concussion history makes negotiations more difficult for his second contract. Simply put, the future of either player in Chicago is still up in the air.

Day 2 will the the hot spot to land some top safeties in the class to give the team a high-level backup along with some long-term reassurances at the position.

Top Fits: Nick Emmanwori, Xavier Watts, Kevin Winston Jr., Andrew Mukuba
