Heading into the Los Angeles Chargers' match-up against the Houston Texans, a lot of people were handing the win to the Bolts. People didn't seem to think that the Texans had what it took to hang around in the game and former Jets and Bills head coach Rex Ryan even went as far as saying that this game was basically a bye week for the Chargers.
Well, that's not what went down at NRG Stadium, as the Chargers got blasted by the Texans. Houston won the game 32-12 even after a slow start. The Chargers led 6-0 until the end of the first half when the Texans scored a touchdown and never looked back.
Even after the Chargers got things to within single digits in the fourth quarter, the optimism didn't last long as the ensuing extra point was blocked and returned the other way. The Chargers did indeed Charger and this time on the brightest of stages.
Kansas City Chiefs fans were watching this game with a lot of interest, as there's a solid chance that K.C. faces the winner of this game next week in the divisional round. While that was certainly a factor in why Chiefs fans were watching the game, watching the Chargers be the same ol' Chargers was a lot of fun to witness.
Chargers fans react to the team getting blown out in the Wild Card round
First, we have those who pointed out how much of a dumpster fire this game was for the Chargers. Some fans even knew that hyping this team up too much was a mistake.
every playoffs is a harsh reminder of a team’s warts.

LOL. I can't even defend this mess

All that hyping @chargers i knew we was gone lose

What a stupid football game this has been

It wasn't all bad for the Chargers, however, as rookie wide receiver Ladd McConkey had himself a day at the office. He looked to be the only Chargers player who showed up for the game.
— Daniel Popper (@danielrpopper) January 12, 2025
Ladd McConkey has eight catches for 188 yards and a touchdown. He can sit in the safe zone while the rest of the offense gets flamethrowered for their performance today.

Next, we look at those who were critical of Justin Herbert following an atrocious performance on a big stage.
— Brian Rick (@ChargersWin2025) January 12, 2025Like I always say each year, for 31 teams, it ends in disappointment. Just wasn’t ready for it to end. I love Justin Herbert, but he sucked, and so did much of the offense tonight.
Looking forward to the off-season and next season … LOVE YALL ⚡️
— Ari Meirov (@MySportsUpdate) January 12, 2025Justin Herbert threw more interceptions today (4) than he had the entire regular season (3).
Bonkers.
Playoff Herbert is terrible

One AFC West opponent has officially been eliminated from the playoffs. Chiefs fans will be tuning in to the Sunday afternoon game between the Bills and Broncos to see how that one plays out. It's tricky because on the one hand, it's best if the Bills get eliminated, but it's also hard to root for the Broncos in anything.
Right now though, simply getting to laugh at the Chargers getting blown out and eliminated is funny enough.
