Celtics Unlikely to Entertain Trade Offers for 2 Starters per Latest Report

The offseason plan for the Boston Celtics is becoming clearer with each passing day. Friday, fans received some more information on just what Brad Stevens and the front office could do this summer to shed salary and remain competitive.

NBA rumors: Celtics '100%' getting 'big trade offers' for Jaylen Brown, Derrick White - Yahoo Sports

During an appearance on ESPN's The Pat McAfee Show, NBA insider Shams Charania broke down the latest information regarding which Celtics players will be available this summer and which ones would need to bring back a substantial return for Stevens even to consider moving them out of Boston.

From the sound of it, two fan favorites are all but a certainty to be suiting up for the Celtics once the 2025-26 campaign tips off.

Celtics Unlikely to Entertain Offers for Brown, White per Latest Report

As you can see from the clip below, Charania suggests that for any other franchise to acquire Derrick White or Jaylen Brown from Boston this offseason would require a "pretty insurmountable package" being shipped to the Celtics.

That is strong wording from Charania, and that cannot be overlooked. If the most connected insider covering the NBA today was comfortable enough to go on one of the network's most popular daytime talk shows and say this, then wherever he is getting that information from is a solid source.

Even if White and Brown are, essentially untouchable this summer, Stevens will have plenty of other options to work with on the trade front, as veterans Jrue Holiday and Kristaps Porzingis have been rumored to be available for quite some time now.

Of those veterans, keeping Brown and White in the fold while looking to move Holiday and Porzingis elsewhere makes the most sense. They are the safer bet to be regular contributors moving forward and should be treated as such. As great as Holiday has been in Boston, he is already on the wrong side of 35 years old, and Porzingis' injury issues have been well-documented at this stage of his career.

In a perfect world, all four would return to the Celtics next season, but these are necessary moves this summer, and the front office needs to continue to treat them as such.
