The Boston Celtics will attempt to become the first NBA team to repeat as champions since the Golden State Warriors accomplished the feat with titles in 2017 and 2018.
But first, the Celtics will have to get through the Orlando Magic in the first round of the NBA playoffs.
The Celtics acknowledged that fact with a nearly instant social media reaction to being set up to face the Magic on Tuesday night.
"Matched up with the Magic," tweeted the Celtics official X (formerly Twitter) account.
This will be the fourth time in franchise history the Magic face the Celtics in the postseason. Orlando won two of the matchups, but Boston capture a six-game series win during the 2010 Eastern Conference Finals the last time the two teams met during the playoffs.
During the 2024-25 regular season, the Magic went 2-1 versus the Celtics.
Orlando defeated Boston 96-76 in their most recent showdown on April 9.
The Magic routed the Atlanta Hawks 120-95 in the NBA Play-in round to officially earn the No. 7 seed in the Eastern Conference playoffs. Point guard Cole Anthony came off the bench to lead the Magic with 26 points and six assists in the blowout.
Game 1 between the Magic and Celtics will occur on Sunday in Boston. Tip off is at 3:30 pm ET.
The Magic will host their first matchup versus the Celtics in Game 3 on Friday, April 25.
