The Boston Celtics marked a standout 2024-25 season—even with a playoff exit—thanks in part to Jaylen Brown’s all-around excellence. Over 63 regular-season games, Brown averaged 22.2 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 4.5 assists, shooting 46.3% from the field and 32.4% from three.
He also played through a persistent knee impingement late in the season, missing 11 games before undergoing arthroscopic surgery for a partially torn meniscus—an injury that slowed him down but didn’t stop him from impacting games.
Amid speculation over Boston’s financial flexibility—triggered by Brown’s supermax extension and rising luxury-tax concerns—trade rumors have swirled, including recent reports from Sports Illustrated's Chris Mannix, claiming that the Celtics might look to move some of its big contracts in the offseason.

According to Mannix, Brown is among the names teams around the league are eyeing, with the San Antonio Spurs looming as a potential destination should he become available.
Amid these trade rumors, the Celtics took decisive action to reaffirm Brown’s value. The team took to social media on Wednesday, posting a photo graphic of Brown and his accomplishments this season.
“Appreciate greatness,” the Celtics captioned the post.
A core member of the storied franchise since being selected third overall in 2016, Brown signed a five-year, $304 million supermax in 2023—the largest NBA contract ever at the time. Now, with Tatum likely sidelined for the 2025-26 season due to Achilles surgery, Boston’s need to retain its top two-two punch is pressing.
While the rumors continue to grow, Brown’s consistent production on the court makes him arguably more indispensable than ever, considering Tatum’s absence.
